During the last 2 years I have taken up cycling to journey from London to Sheffield and then the year after that I did the same journey, this time in a kayak, all for good causes. But I swore on the god of daft ideas (do-not-do-it) never to undertake a challenge again. People at work had been asking what i was going to do for months and i said nothing doing.
So this time i must blame my wife because my doing charity stunts days were well and truly over! On mothers day I dutifully took her(the wife) out (on behalf of my son). First stop was Bakewell where i had an epiphany. Whilst looking in the shop windows I saw something called the three peaks challenge, which basically means walking up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden within 24 hours.
I was that struck by the idea that i had phoned Simon, my eldest son, whilst my wife was in the shop some 20 minutes after seeing it.
Game on!
Some suitable others were co-erst into the event, but the more i studied it the more concerned I was about what we were getting into, so i have asked them this weekend to think carefully if they wish to do it before committing themselves fully.
My training began this weekend, with a 6 mile run and a walk.
